Our first gig of the year will be happening on FRIDAY 2ND NOVEMBER at the Treasury. It is a High Society gig, so wear your best dancing shoes and dress to impress!
We will be at the Plymouth University Societies Fair in the Rolle Marquee ready to meet some new and eager musicians wishing to join the band! Please come and say hello!

Keep your eyes peeled - we have exciting news of an upcoming event on the 4th March. Battle of the Big Bands 2017 will be returning to Plymouth this year, celebrating its 4th anniversary, and back on home turf! We will be competing with Bristol, Exeter and Falmouth University Big Bands for a fantastic evening of great music. Put it in your diaries folks!
We kick off the year with our annual Halloween High Society gig! Both the Big Band and the Small Band will be performing from 8pm, at the Treasury. Halloween fancy dress will be in full swing!
We finish the year celebrating the 10th Anniversary of our society. We will be collaborating with the Dave Hankin Big Band to bring you a superb night of musical entertainment, raising money for Plymouth Music Zone!
Our first Annabels gig of the year is guaranteed to get you moving! This time raising Money for Medsin.
Our biggest gig of the year with the Dave Hankin Big Band in the Main Hall of the University. We'll be fundraising for Families for Children, a volunteer-run adoption agency. For more details click here or visit the tickets section on this website.
We will be entertaining the crowds at another charity event run by the good people at Medsin. It's a fashion show and you can find out more details by clicking here
Jazz on the Barbican, another evening of jazz and funk at Annabels. Following the success last time, we will be teaming up with Medsin again to put on a great event in aid of charity. More details to follow!
Another High Society ball at the Treasury. We're going Valentines themed this time and plan to provide another night of high-class entertainment at a low cost. More information to follow!
The Battle of the Big Bands. We will be traveling up to Exeter to compete in the annual event. Following our victory last year, we aim to uphold our stellar standard and bring home the trophy! More details to follow!

We had a busy weekend last weekend - two gigs! Our annual first gig of the term went really well, we raised an amazing £370 for Plymouth Marrow! An incredible charity doing fantastic work in the local area, we are delighted to raise money for them.
Two days later, half of our big band played at Plymouth Jazz Club, supporting Nigel Price as he made his way on his tour around the UK! This was a really enjoyable gig. We are now in preparation for our 3rd gig of the year!
Yesterdays rehearsal saw the room jam packed - we had 40 people turn up for our "give it a go" session! We hope you all enjoyed it and we hope to see you again next week!

A wonderful end to the year with our High Society Gig at the Treasury, raising money for MSF. This year in total we have raised over £1,800 for charity - thank you all for your great support, we can't wait to start it all again in September!
Another fantastic evening teaming up with the Dave Hankin Big Band for the third year running. This year, we were also joined by the Lipson Cooperative Big Band who opened the evening with a cracking set! We raised a total of £400 for Plymouth Music Zone and can't wait for next year's collaborative gig.
Thank you to all that came along to our Jazz on the Barbican night at Annabel's Cabaret! We raised a total of £287.30 for Plymouth Marrow.

What a fantastic evening showcasing the musical Big Band talent of the south-west! Exeter, Bristol, Falmouth and Plymouth universities all came together in Plymouth to battle it out to be named 2017 Battle of the Big Bands champions. Congratulations to Exeter University Big Band who were this years reigning champions! We raised over £400 for Plymouth Music Zone!
A fantastic end to 2016, we played our socks off at the RAG Winter Ball as well as the Biomed Great Gatsby Ball. We look forward to what musical fun 2017 will bring us!
What a great Halloween gig at the Treasury to start off the year with our fabulous new band members! We raised over £200 for the charity Medsin to help many in need around the world.
Following a fantastic collaborative gig with the Dave Hanking Big Band to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of our society, we finished the year by performing at the annual University Summer Ball. A great time had by all!

After a tiring but brilliant Annabel's gig, we made our way to Battle of the Big Bands this year hosted by Bristol. The Band played brilliantly but unfortunately the top place was taken by reigning champions Exeter. The Band will be working hard for a win on home turf at next year's battle!
The Big band as one of ten sports clubs and societies has been awarded gold icons by the students union! Giving the band many bonuses in the new year and identifying it as one of the best societies the uni has.

UPBB were highly commended for our event 'Battle of the Big Bands' last night at UPSU Societies & Volunteering Awards at the National Marine Aquarium, Plymouth. George Wilcox also received University Half Colours. Well done to all winners, it was a great night celebrating the success of the student union.
