Want To Join?

The band is a non-auditioned musical society within the University of Plymouth Student Union.

If you play at a Grade 5 standard & above you will be comfortable & suitably challenged by the repertoire UPBB has to offer.

However if you play a more obscure instrument or have a talent for singing, it is advisable that you first contact the committee.

To join the band you must be affiliated with the University of Plymouth as either a student or member of staff.

If you are a graduate of the University of Plymouth, you too are welcome to join. However we advise that you contact us for some extra details.

UPBB rehearse on Monday evenings in Room 015 of the Rolle building on Plymouth University Campus, from 7.00pm-9.30pm.

We also hold improvisation sessions which are aimed at those wanting to improve their soloing skills. These take place on Sunday afternoons.

One must recognise that some musical societies have limitations. Although we do our best to accommodate everyone, the committee of the UPBB maintain the right to ensure that you find the appropriate outlet to express your musical talents.

Gigs & Charity

We both organise and perform at many gigs and events throughout the year in and around the city of Plymouth

We have a strong reputation for raising money and supporting the community and were most recently recognised for our outstanding work in this area at the Plymouth University Student Union 2013/14 Awards. At the event the UPBB were highly commended for our community involvement. In addition, we won the 'Event of The Year Award' for our Mind Movember Gig at which we raised lots of money for the mental health charity MIND.

The UPBB also has a good relationship with the University of Plymouth Student Union as well as its societies and we are regularly involved in events, such as society balls, and summer concerts.
