University of Plymouth Big Band
The University of Plymouth Big Band (UPBB) was set up in 2005 by a dedicated bunch of students who wanted a musical outlet within the university in which to play Jazz. The band has gone from strength to strength over the years and now has over 30 committed members, playing regular gigs across Plymouth and the surrounding area. The band have won numerous awards, including winning "Best Song" at both 2017 and 2018 Battle of the Big Bands and "Best Singer". In 2019 we won Best Soloist" in Battle on the Big Bands, and in the same year our treasurer won "Best Treasurer" and our Musical Director won "Best Non-Core Committee Role".
Sharon Griffiths, Plymouth Domestic Abuse Service -
On the 28th November 2014, Plymouth Domestic Abuse Service arranged a charity event which was held at Plymouth New Continental Hotel and The Plymouth University Big Band kindly gave their time to play at our event.
The quality of the band was excellent, they presented professionally, smartly dressed with extreme talent. I received positive feedback from guests who attended and who particularly mentioned the lead singers. I did mention to the band on the night, if it was at all possible I would have liked the band to perform for the whole duration of our event.
I would definitely recommend the band to others and would look to rebook them for future events.
A BIG THANK YOU to Plymouth University Big Band.
